About Kids & Co.
At Kids & Co. we offer a full range of specialised psychological assessment and treatment services to children, adolescents and their families.
We believe that children and young people can make change in their lives to better fulfil their potentials and to grow into happy and healthy adults. We take a family approach in our work with you, as we acknowledge the importance of the young person's relationships and contextual experiences, and the influence of behavioural and emotional problems on family members.
We value your views of your current experiences, and work closely with you to make effective and efficient change. We choose a treatment method that will best suit your personal and family needs, and which is researched to be the most effective form of intervention for the problem that you may be experiencing.
Confidentiality and limitsWe are legally obliged to divulge information when we obtain evidence or knowledge that:
- a child is at risk of physical, sexual, or emotional harm
- an adult is at risk of harming themselves
- an adult or child has intentions of harm toward others.
Further, in the event of subpoena for legal proceedings, our information may be required by law to be released.
Fees and RebatesFirst Consultation / Assessment: $260.00
Subsequent consultations: $150.00 - $190.00
Fees for report writing, attendance at school/other agency meetings, and home consultation are also available on request.
Many private health funds provide rebates for psychological consultations. Please check with your fund to find out about eligibility.
Medicare Australia has a 'better access to mental health' scheme which provides a limited rebate when your General Practitioner, Psychiatrist, or Paediatrician refers you for psychological intervention as part of your overall treatment plan. Eligibility for the scheme can only be deemed appropriate by your medical provider. A particular consultation between you and your doctor is required to make this assessment, and to create the necessary referral documentation for us. At August 2008, medicare rebates were between $75 and $112 per session for up to 12 sessions per year. The staff at Kids & Co. are recognised providers with Medicare to enable eligible clients to receive this rebate.
